Enrollment & Registration
At Hermosa Beach City School District (HBCSD), our teachers, administrators, and support staff are dedicated to providing academic excellence and exceptional service to our families. To ensure a smooth and convenient experience, please follow the steps below to complete the enrollment process.
Before you Start
What grade is your student eligible for enrollment?
- If your child HAS attended a public or private school in California: The student will be promoted to the next grade level for the following school year unless retention paperwork is included in the student's school cumulative file.
- Unsure about your child's grade placement? Refer to the 2025-2028 Grade Level Placement Chart for guidance. For further questions, please contact your school directly.
2026-2027 HBCSD New Student Online Enrollment - NOW OPEN FOR NEW STUDENTS (TK-8 Grade) to the District for the next school year.
- January 12, 2026: Begin reviewing Interdistrict Attendance Permit Applications.
- March 29, 2026: Deadline to submit Interdistrict Attendance Permit Applications to be included in the Lottery (if necessary) for the 2026-2027 school year.
- April 1, 2026: Anticipated notifications to begin
- April 3, 2026: The 2026-2027 Interdistrict Attendance Permit Lottery, if necessary.
- March 31-August 28, 2026: Applications submitted during this period will be placed on a waitlist.
- August 28, 2026: Last day to submit an Interdistrict Attendance Permit request for the 2026-2027 school year (based on space availability).
- 14 Days After the Start of the 2026-2027 School Year: Interdistrict Attendance Permit denial letters will be sent.
Returning Student Registration
Current HVS students returning to HBCSD in Fall 2026 must complete the Back-to-School forms, which will be available starting Friday, July 31, 2026. These forms must be submitted via the PowerSchool Parent Portal by the first day of school. Please note: New families to the district do not need to complete this process.
