Sprigeo Report School Safety Threats and Bullying

Sprigeo: Creating a Safer Learning Environment at Hermosa Schools

At Hermosa Beach City School District (HBCSD), fostering a safe and supportive environment is essential for every student to thrive academically and socially. To further this commitment, we introduced Sprigeo, a confidential online system for reporting bullying incidents and school safety concerns, in December 2024.

Sprigeo offers students, families, and community members a secure and private way to share safety concerns directly with school and district administrators. This innovative tool has been successfully used at Mira Costa High School and Redondo Union High School and is now being implemented at Hermosa Valley School.

How does Sprigeo work?

Students, families, and community members can make reports through the Sprigeo Reporting Form or directly at SPRIGEO.COM. Once submitted, the report is sent securely to our school and district administrators and, if necessary, the Hermosa Beach Police Department (HBPD).

What can be reported?

Sprigeo can be used to report:

  • Safety threats, bullying, harassment, or intimidation (at or outside of school)
  • Cyberbullying (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Fights, drugs, alcohol, or weapons at school
  • Friends who may be at risk of self-harm

Does the school receive false reports?

Over 95% of reports submitted through the Sprigeo Reporting Form have been confirmed as authentic requests for help with a bullying incident or school safety threat. Unlike text messages or social media posts that can be shared or misused among students, Sprigeo reports are viewable only by school and district administrators, reducing the likelihood of false accusations.

Why use an online reporting system?

The primary reason children do not report bullying or abuse is the fear of retaliation, embarrassment, or being labeled a “snitch.” Sprigeo allows reports to be submitted privately from a home computer or any internet-enabled device, eliminating the risk of being identified by another student.

Your report is important to us, and we take all reports seriously to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and school community.

What happens after you submit a report?

HBCSD will investigate all reports submitted during school hours in a timely manner. Reports made outside of school hours, on weekends, or during the holidays will be reviewed and investigated on the next available business day. While we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, incidents occurring outside of school hours may fall beyond the scope of immediate district oversight.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please call 9-1-1 or your local emergency services right away. For non-emergency concerns, you can reach the Hermosa Beach Police Dispatch at (310) 524-2750.

If your concern needs immediate mental health attention, support is also available. Contact one of the providers listed below.
