School Accountability Report Cards

Since November 1988, California state law has required all public schools receiving state funding to prepare and distribute an annual School Accountability Report Card (SARC). The purpose of the SARC is to provide parents, staff, and the community with important information about each school's instructional programs, academic performance, school climate, and resources. SARCs offer transparency into school progress and serve as a tool for families to evaluate and compare schools based on key performance indicators.
What Information is Included in the SARC?
Each School Accountability Report Card includes:
- Demographic Data
- School Safety & Climate for Learning
- Academic Performance & State Test Results
- School Completion Rates
- Class Sizes
- Teacher & Staff Credentials
- Curriculum, Instruction & Textbooks
- Postsecondary & Career Preparation
- Parent Involvement Opportunities
- Facilities & Maintenance Conditions
- Fiscal & Expenditure Data
SARCs must be updated annually and published by February 1st.
