Facilities Master Plan

The Hermosa Beach City School District (HBCSD) Facilities Master Plan (FMP) is a long-term guide for maintaining and improving our school facilities. It prioritizes student safety, modern learning spaces, and sustainability while balancing available funding with community needs.
Key Priorities
Classroom Modernization & Technology
- Modernize and renovate outdated classrooms
- Build new middle school science labs
- Enhance student access to computers and modern technology
Energy Efficiency Improvements
- Make energy-efficient improvements, including installing solar projects
- Replace outdated, inefficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems
- Upgrade inadequate electrical systems, including network speed and security
Campus Safety
- Make safety and security improvements, including security cameras, alarms, and fencing
- Improve student safety by reducing traffic at student drop-off and pick-up areas
- Redesign Hermosa Valley front entrance for improved safety
Athletic Facilities & Playground
- Upgrade playfields, playgrounds, and athletic facilities
- Construct shade structures and student-centered lunch and recreation areas
- Make health and handicapped accessibility improvements
