Welcome back to Hermosa Beach City School District, and welcome to all our new students, families, and staff. I hope you had a joyful and restful summer! I’m excited to see our students, families, and staff return with fresh energy, ready to begin another year of learning and growth together. Our campuses are buzzing with anticipation, and we are ready to make 2025-2026 a year to remember.

While our students were relaxing, our HBCSD teams have been working diligently to prepare our facilities for their return. A heartfelt thank you to our Maintenance and Operations team for their hard work in preparing our campuses, including moving classrooms, redesigning eating spaces at Hermosa View, implementing important HVAC upgrades at Hermosa View, and replacing HVAC units at Hermosa Valley.

This year marks many exciting milestones. For the first time in our district's history, enrollment has exceeded 1,500 students. We are also thrilled to welcome our new principals, Dr. Jessica Ghobrial at Hermosa View and Ms. Grace Yang at Hermosa Vista, ensuring full-time administrative support at all three school sites. Thanks to the generous support of our Hermosa Beach Education Foundation (HBEF), each school now has a dedicated school counselor to support the social and emotional well-being of our students and full time library/media technicians. We have also increased special education support at Hermosa View and Vista, and welcomed many new staff members who bring incredible experience and passion to our schools. 

We are equally excited to launch our new district-wide K–8 English/Language Arts curriculum adoption of Wit & Wisdom and Geodes, bringing rigorous and engaging learning opportunities to all students.
